Although we may not be aware of it, most of our understanding of other cultures is based on the media, our governments, or stereotypes.

The problem with this is that once you stop listening and start experiencing, you find that stereotypes are almost invariably false.

In fact, it is very difficult to believe what we have been told in the media, which is often manipulated.

When you are open and talk to people from different cultures (online or in person), you will find that most Germans are not cold and unfriendly, that Brazilians do not only play soccer, party and dance the Samba, that French do not only eat croissants or smoke cigarettes, that Spaniards do not usually fight with their bulls.

There are superficial differences between our cultures and histories, but at the core of it all, we are all human beings.

I know it’s a lot, and it may seem like a lot, and you may not believe it. It’s okay. A lot of it is my opinion, based on years of travel and language learning. In fact, A lot of these feelings stem from my exposure to our global community of over 100,000+ English learners from 65+ countries over the past 2 years.
