Both state and private Malaysian universities are familiar with Cambridge qualifications due to our long history in Malaysia and the large growth in student numbers in recent years. Cambridge students routinely gain admission to Malaysian private universities and, in general, can also apply to state universities but owing to national education policies only a limited number of places are available for Cambridge students.

Admissions requirements usually ask for three Cambridge International A Levels (some private universities may also accept two A-Levels), including prerequisite subjects for some courses. For admission to state universities, students may also be required to pass SPM examinations (the local equivalent to Cambridge IGCSE) prior to taking Cambridge International AS & A Levels.

During the morning and afternoon sessions, you will have the opportunity to enhance your general English language abilities using a range of interactive and practical resources. Included in each week’s schedule:

Your trainer will choose grammar and vocabulary points according to your goals and needs. Throughout the week, you’ll be practicing these.
An emphasis on public speaking, with most of your lessons structured to provide you the opportunity to do just that.
Enhanced fluency exercises that incorporate group work, simulations, and oral presentations. If you want to hone your public speaking abilities and put all you’ve learnt about grammar, vocabulary, and other skills into practice this week, these are the exercises for you.
A variety of reading and listening exercises
Concentration on the ability to write, including the ability to compose both official and casual emails
Correct pronunciation. Depending on the subject matter, this could take the shape of an individual class or be related to the language arts concepts you’re working on.
Useful techniques for communicating, such as politely agreeing and disagreeing, interrupting, and demonstrating empathy
An emphasis on multilingual and social English
Your oral and written communication needs correction and constructive criticism.

 You will be challenged to think about what literature is, how it works, and how it can be discussed. This is a distinctive and long-standing part of the Cambridge English course, and a real highlight for students and lecturers alike.

It is also possible for appropriately qualified students to replace one of their modules with a language option borrowed from another Faculty or Department. There are options, for instance, to study Old English or Old Norse from scratch, or for students to take a paper in Classical Greek or Latin or one of a wide range of modern languages.
