Keep an ear out for word-indicators like but, but, then, and ultimately. They aid in your ability to predict the speaker's words.
Many students make the mistake of taking the required information at face value the moment they hear it. However, on sometimes, this material is restated or updated in a later section. For instance:
Sam: I'm grateful. You have sent me an email. So, loren-hanson@gmail.com is the address.
Loren: No, no! It is loren-hamson@gmail.com, spelled with an M. You are incorrect.
Sam: I apologize.
